At-Will Employment
Definition:
At-will employment is a situation in which an employee can be terminated without cause, with a few specific exclusions. Employees have few rights under the law when terminated in these situations. However, at-will employment is the most common type in the United States. Most states have adopted at least some degree of at-will employment doctrine, although Montana offers job protection for all employees who have completed a probationary period and requires employers to provide a cause for termination.
