Accessibility
Accessibility in Human Resources is referred to as the practice of alternating working environments, job responsibilities in order to accommodate individuals with disabilities, or in other words employers with disabilities. This is in accordance with the rules set out in the Americans with disabilities Act 1990; which requires employers to make adjustments in order to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
Examples of Accessibility
Equipment
According to the ADA, reasonable adjustments include helping individuals with disabilities to complete tasks; which extends to the principle of providing all employees with the right set of tools they need. An employee with a visual disability may need to be provided a larger desktop monitor, or a screen glare protector.
Technology
Employers must ensure that the organization’s website and other softwares are designed and maintained in order for employees with disabilities to access them.
Employers must therefore ensure that adjustments are made for individuals with disabilities within the organization.
