Basic Competencies

[ˌbeɪsɪk ˈkɒmpɪtənsi]
Definition:

The base standard of required skills for a particular position. Generally, these are outlined specifically in recruitment advertisements and matched against applicant resumes.

Applicants who do not meet basic competencies are very unlikely to be suitable for a position or would require significant reskilling before commencing work; identifying basic competencies is essential as it helps one perform well in their positions and also helps employers to recruit the right set of candidates for the organization.
