Definition:
Employees face a wide range of health threats, broken down into acute and chronic conditions. Acute conditions are short-term, while chronic conditions last for a year or longer and require ongoing medical attention (and costs), limit daily activities, and impact employee quality of life in many different ways. Examples of chronic conditions include diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, although many others exist.
