Cognitive Ability Testing

[ˈkɑɡnədɪv | əˈbɪlədi | ˈtɛstɪŋ]
Definition:

This is a test which has been designed to assess or in other words measure an individual’s cognitive function in a particular area; for example spatial awareness, verbal reasoning and mathematics. This is something that is used by organisations as a recruitment process in order to predict a candidate’s future ability for the position.

Cognitive Ability Testing has however been criticised due to its failure to address cultural bias; therefore as much as it is a good thing to add as a recruitment process there are still contradictions on whether it is really useful and effective in detecting whether a candidate is suitable for the position advertised.
