Definition:

Competency Modelling is a framework which identifies the behaviours, skills and knowledge that is needed to have an effective performance within an organisation. Competency models help in work expectations, behaviour and the productivity in line with the company's strategy; this is formed by the Human Resources Department.

One of the main benefits of using competency modelling is greater performance success attributed to the organisation with a defined competency level; this means that competency models help in the success of the organisation. Another benefit of it is that it sets a concrete direction for workforce performance which will then lead the organisation to achieve its targets.
