These are the fundamental skills and qualifications required for an employee to successfully complete a role. This also relates to the critical strengths of the business that provide differentiation from others in the industry. 

The core competencies of the business emerge from those of the workforce. It is essential for every organisation to have core competencies for each position held in their organisation; this is because it will firstly help employers to choose candidates with the right skills and qualifications; the core competencies will also help employers to train their employees to achieve a certain skill or qualification in order to perform better within their roles.
