Employment At Will

[əmˈplɔɪmənt | æt | wɪl]
Definition:

This is a concept in which the employer can terminate the tenure of any employee for any reason without having to establish ‘just cause’; this only as long as the reason is not illegal (for example, sexual orientation, race or religion).

In an instance where an employee is hired at “will”, courts refuse the employee to claim for loss due to dismissal. In an employment at will arrangement, the employee also has the right to end their employment with their employer without any reason. Many organizations use this type of arrangement for most of their employees, on one side it is an advantage because it frees the employer from being sued for unfair dismissal, however it could also be a disadvantage on the side of the employee as there is not job security under this type of employment.
