Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

[ˈɛn(t)ərˌpraɪz | ˈriˌsɔrs | ˈplænɪŋ]
Definition:

This is a business management software, generally involving a suite of integrated applications, that manages a range of data sets across the organization; enterprise resource planning allows organizations to review their processes.

This can include sales data, accounting and human resource functions, corporate governance analysis and marketing information; it is often locally installed on organisation’s IT systems – as such, SaaS and cloud based applications are gaining more popularity.

One of the ERP advantages is the improvement in reporting and planning; which means that organizations will not have to spend a lot of time on reviewing spreadsheets and emails. Another advantage is that it is cost effective; an ERP will cut down the money and time spent on IT training; organizations should therefore invest in implementing this system into their organizations.
