Definition:

Executive development is an ongoing process which helps managers to gain the skills, knowledge and abilities to handle situations and problems that arise within the organization efficiently and be equipped to handle future challenges successfully. 

This term is also known as management development, it is believed to be one of the fastest ways to develop areas in personnel; an effective management team is important and a survival strategy for the organization, therefore providing training for executive staff is important.
