Definition:

These are metrics that are critical to an organization’s success, and those upon which the success of employees is judged, (such as sales made per month, customers served, units manufactured and many more). 

Key performance indicators help to determine the organization’s operational, financial and strategic achievements; this is usually done through reporting and tools and business analytics. KPIs are important to be implemented in every organization because it gives a realistic overview on how things are progressing.
