Mean Wage

Definition:

A Mean Wage is the average pay that a worker receives for a particular occupation or position; a mean wage and average wage are considered as the same thing; and thus it is calculated in the same way. 

The value of a mean wage is important for both employers and job seekers; this is because job seekers are most likely to be interested in the mean wage within the location or industry they are looking for. Whereas employers are required to be familiar with mean wages based on the industry location and position when writing job descriptions in order to attract potential candidates to their position, and also to remain competitive.
