Nepotism is the concept of giving preference or undue advantage to family or friends in a recruitment or promotion situation, even if they are not the most qualified to be selected. 

Nepotism usually takes place in the form of a promotion or a new job opening, in which right processes are overlooked to favor a family member or a friend.
