Platform economy is an economic activity generated by the use of digital platforms or technologies; this involves underlying computer systems that host services which allows organizations, customers and clients to share resources, connect and sell products.

Examples include cloud-based SaaS services like Google Docs or Dropbox, or platforms on which organizations can build, such as WordPress.
