Definition:

A selection rate measures how many individuals are moving from one stage to the next in the recruitment process; it offers an insight on how many candidates are moving through the recruitment process. 

The first step involves a process; key stages involved in the recruitment process; most organizations going through the following process:

  • Resume (or application submission)
  • Resume review
  • Initial (first stage interview)
  • Second stage interview 
  • Offer 

This however varies depending on the organization. 

How to calculate a selection rate 

The calculation of a selection rate involves taking the total number of people who moved to the next stage and dividing by the total number of people that were in the previous stage. Multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage.
