Training Needs Analysis

[ˈtreɪnɪŋ | nidz | əˈnæləsəs]
Definition:

This refers to an assessment of the skills and development training needed to be offered to employees by identifying skills gaps or poor performance within the organization.

This also sets out expected outcomes on completion of training, both for employees and for the business output.

Benefits of a training needs analysis

1. It helps the organization to plan their training for the rest of the year

After completing a training needs analysis, employers can plan for other learning and development training, which allows them to align training to working practices. It also helps to predict and prepare the budget for the rest of the year.

2. It helps to highlight training needs within the organization

It is mostly challenging to develop a plan for training without carrying out any background research. As an employer, you might think that you know the type of training your workforce needs and should be completing; however the training needs analysis helps to highlight areas that your workforce needs.

Avoiding conducting training needs analysis, might severely hinder the progress of the organization.
